The first thing I noticed about X-Men: Children of the Atom was how clean the conversion was from the arcade to the PC platform. It was a nearly perfect port. My PC version features the same 12 characters, the same fighting anthem music, and the same 15-hit combo possibilities. The 2D graphics are reminiscent of the old 16-bit Street Fighter II on the Genesis, but this isn't a complaint since that style fits perfectly with this sort of game.
If you have a few minutes to spare, slip the CD in your drive and start the game up for a quick play. X-Men: Children of the Atom is ideal for a quick bit of fun. If you have friends or siblings that like arcade-style fighters or the X-Men comics (or both), have them come over and the two of you can duke it out to your hearts' content. Because of the style of game play, it is easy for anyone who's interested to pick up and quickly learn the basics of this game.
The variety of characters and the large number of strategies that may be employed give the game a high replay value. The first time you do an 'X-Power' move, you'll get such a rush that you will keep trying to do it again, always attempting to improve on your last move. This can make the game highly addictive in a wild kind of way.
X-Men: Children of the Atom is a great game with high 'head-to-head' multiplayer value. I recommend this game to anybody that likes X-Men or arcade fighters.
Graphics: The 2D graphics are perfect for this style of arcade fighter
Sound: Realistic grunts and fighting style music add to the atmosphere
Enjoyment: For a quick bit of fun, this game rules!
Replay Value: Every match is different when you're playing against human opponents

X-Men: Children of the Atom is a 2D fighting game and the first Capcom title to use licensed characters from the Marvel comic universe. It has six main characters and four of their enemies that are playable. The X-Men are Colossus, Cyclops, Iceman, Psylocke, Storm and Wolverine. The villains are Omega Red, Sentinel, Silver Samurai and Spiral. The two main bosses are Juggernaut and Magneto, and Akuma is available as a secret character.
Fighting is done one-on-one with a traditional best-two-out-of-three match setup, with automatic or manual blocking. Similar to the Super Combo gauge in Super Street Fighter II Turbo there is an X-Power gauge of different levels, filled up when the player performs moves. When it is maxed out an X-Ability or Hyper X special move can be performed. Other general features are the abilities to super jump, roll away and aiming projectiles.
One of the better fighting games for the PC, X-Men: Children of the Atom proves that the PC is indeed a viable platform for fighting games, despite popular opinion. In GameSpot's words:
'X-Men: Children of the Atom [is] an admirable and near-exact conversion of Capcom's 1995 arcade hit, which pits 10 Marvel Comics' mutant fighters against one another in a Street Fighter II-on-cappuccino-style battle to the finish. The impressively fluid animation of the arcade title is retained perfectly in the PC version, as is the audio and most of the gameplay. What's more, X-Men retails for a fraction of the cost of most PC games and will work fine on just about any modern machine. The look of X-Men translates marvelously in the PC conversion - the vibrant color of the arcade is completely intact, as is each and every lovingly hand-drawn frame of animation. However, the game runs at an unpleasantly low resolution and the frantic speed of the arcade is somewhat lost. Each sound effect and speech sample (the X-Men's voices are done by the same folks who speak their parts in the Saturday morning cartoon) is present, while the upbeat synthesized soundtrack rings loud and clear through redbook CD audio. X-Men: Children of the Atom is an aesthetically powerful package.
I've also noticed that there is no video at all while it should (well, 20 years ago it was!)The game crash as soon as I pickup a nickname, there is no way to click on any flag in the wa Iiting room. Anno 1602 windows 10.
Surprisingly enough, those who mastered the game's six-button mechanics at the arcade will have a pleasant time using the keyboard alone. However, X-Men cannot be played seriously except with a multibutton gamepad of some sort, through which it controls pristinely. Special moves can be unleashed with surgical precision, and above all else, the game feels just like the arcade. And yet, a terribly important facet is left unattended: the ability to string together multiple punches and kicks into massive custom chain combos is conspicuously missing. And, to add insult to injury, the computer opponent will use those chain combos on you without hesitation even though you cannot use them to retaliate. A simple patch to fix this problem would make a world of difference for arcade purists.
As is, X-Men: Children of the Atom serves up some killer one-on-one martial arts action that's more than enough to tide over those looking for a quick fix of fists and foul play. Fans of the arcade game will be disappointed by the missing chain combos, but others won't mind for even a second, as they'll be enjoying X-Men's slick visuals and cool character designs and wondering all the while as to why the PC doesn't enjoy more games of this category.'

Game Review
Street Fighter II is the arcade sequel to the original Street Fighter and was developed and published by Capcom in 1991.
Originally made for arcades, it was later released for other platforms, including that Amiga and PC. This installment improves upon many of the concepts introduced in the first game, including the use of command-based special moves.
With no real plot to speak of, this is a true beat-’em-up game. Engage in side-scrolling, one-on-one close combat in a series of best two out of three matches. To win the matches you must drain your opponent’s ‘vitality’ before the timer runs out. Every third match in single player mode leads to a bonus level where you participate in different mini-games. Unlike its predecessor, you can choose between multiple different characters with their own fighting style and special moves. This installment also introduced the concept of combination attacks. More an accident than an intended outcome, this combination system became the standard for fighting games. It was also the first fighting game to offer the ability to fight another human opponent directly, as opposed to comparing scores. In this fast-paced action fighting game punch, kick and hadouken your way to victory.
Street Fighter II was by far more popular than the original. It is hailed as one of the most influential games of all time, more particularly in its own genre. This wildly successful game revolutionized and popularized the fighting genre. It spurred game developers to produce their own fighting game franchises. Cven4705 course outline pdf to word. It was also responsible for revitalizing the arcade video game industry in the early 90’s, reaching a popularity not witnessed since Pac-Man. It has won multiple awards and is on the Top 100 Games of All Time list. This little slice of history should not be missed.
